How to Work as a Retail Manager in Australia via Subclass 482

If you have ever dreamed of working as a retail manager in Australia but felt overwhelmed with many questions in mind, like: What is the process to get a visa in Australia? What documents do I need? Which visa should I apply for?

How long will it take to get approval? Then, all the answers to these questions can be found with one success story of our client, who was also buzzing with the same question when she came to us. But now she has successfully obtained the 482 subclass visa and is working in her dream job.

So, let’s know about the whole process that has made it possible for her to live and work as a Retail Manager in Queensland.

1. Eligibility Check Up

She came to us with one big question: “Am I eligible?”. She shared all of her qualifications, like she has done a Master of Business Administration and has 5 years of experience as a Retail Manager in India. Along with that, she also had a Certificate IV in Retail Management.

She said that she had an employer in Queensland who is ready to sponsor her as a Retail Manager. So, our RMA has reviewed all her eligibility, documents, and made sure that her role (Retail Manager – ANZSCO 142111) for which she was applying matches all the job descriptions.

2. SBS Approval For the Right Employer

After the complete review, the actual process for a 482 visa started by making her employer an approved Standard Business Sponsor (SBS). We collaboratively worked with our client’s employer to:

• Gather and verify legal and business documents that prove the company is lawfully operating in Australia.

• Collect financial evidence, such as profit and loss statements, tax returns, and Business Activity Statements (BAS), to demonstrate its financial stability.

• Confirm the business’s size, scope, and operational legitimacy that justify the employer’s ability to sponsor overseas workers.

After that, we submitted the SBS application via the Department of Home Affairs’ online portal and provided all the required supporting documents. It was approved within a few days, and the employer received SBS status for a period of 5 years.

This thing allowed an employer to nominate our client for the 482 Subclass Visa program.

3. Employer Nomination: Official Endorsement

After securing SBS approval, the time has come to move forward with the next step: Employer Nomination. In this step, the employer officially nominates our client for the Retail Manager role under the 482 Subclass Visa.

We worked with the employer to define the Retail Manager role and ensure that it aligned with the Department of Home Affairs’ criteria. We helped the employer show the genuine need for a Retail Manager in its company who can manage operations, lead teams, and drive business growth. After that, we submitted the nomination application.

This nomination got approval, which means our client came one step closer to their dream job. Now the employer could offer a full-time, paid position to our client as a “Retail Manager”, which is also in line with Australian standards.

4. Submitting a Visa Application

Finally, we moved on to the last part, which is the visa application submission. We guided our client through the whole visa application process, ensuring every detail was correct and complete. This included:

• Submitting the required documents, such as identity proof, employment history, qualifications, and any other supporting paperwork.

• Ensuring that the visa application complied with all Australian immigration laws.

After doing all this, we submitted her visa application for the 482 subclass on 3rd March 2025. Once the application was submitted, we worked closely with the Department of Home Affairs to monitor the status of the application, ensuring any questions or additional information requests by the government were handled promptly.

5. Visa Approval

Our team’s continued dedication and expert advice throughout the process had turned her vision of building a professional career in Australia into reality. It was 18th September 2025, when we received mail from the Department of Home Affairs notifying us that her Skills in Demand Visa (subclass 482) had been granted.

This email had transformed an ordinary day into a moment of joy and celebration, marking the official beginning of her career as a Retail manager in Australia.
